Russians fired 6 missiles at Lviv region, 2 of which had been shot down by Ukrainian Air Defence – Kozytskyi

According to preliminary information, Ukrainian Air Defence Forces have shot down two of the six aggressors’ missiles fired by the Russians at the Lviv region on Tuesday, 3 May.

Quote: “It’s official. Here’s what I can tell you at this point. According to preliminary information, our Air Defence Forces shot down two out of six enemy missiles over the Lviv region. Three [missiles] hit electric substations in the Lviv region. One [missile] hit an electric substation in Zakarpattia.

It has been suggested that the missiles flew from the Caspian region.

Three electrical substations in Lviv have suffered significant damage. There is a delay in train traffic.

Two people with shrapnel wounds went to the regional medical facilities. They stated that they had been in the vicinity of the explosions. Their condition is assessed as moderate.

“I am grateful to the soldiers of “Zakhid” (West) Task Force who are doing their utmost to protect us from aerial threats.

I would also like to thank the staff of the State Emergency Service, ‘Lvivoblenerho’ and ‘Ukrzaliznytsia,’ who are promptly eliminating the consequences of the strikes and working to restore power supplies in residential areas of the city.”

Background:

On 3 May, Russia launched several missile strikes: at a substation near the station in Volovets in Zakarpattia, in the town of Artsyz in the Bolhrad district of the Odesa region, in the Dnipropetrovsk region, in the Dolyna municipality (hromada) of the Kirovohrad region, in Avdiivka in the Donetsk region, in Lviv, on the border of  the Sumy region.

In addition, an explosion was heard in Zaporizhzhia on the evening of 3 May.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that Russia’s numerous missile strikes on various Ukrainian cities on Tuesday show its inability to defeat Ukraine.
